Why we collect data
Builders have priced thousands of jobs. You've priced one. That information asymmetry costs homeowners money. We're fixing it.
The more people contribute, the harder it becomes for a price to sit above the local range unnoticed.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your personal data is My Build Ally Ltd, trading as MyBuildAlly. Registered in England and Wales, company number 17019427. Correspondence address: 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. For anything about your data, email [email protected].

What we store

Why we are allowed to process it
UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each kind of processing. Ours are:

Neither uses your name or your document. |

We do not delete your quote on a timer. Keeping it is what lets you reopen your report later, and what lets us test the price model against real quotes. A document we cannot read as a builder's quote is deleted straight away. Deleting a project removes it and the documents behind it from our storage. On request we delete your projects and the documents behind them from our storage, and anything else we hold about you: email [email protected]. The anonymised figures described above carry nothing that identifies you and are kept.
Third-party services
Anthropic Claude (AI)
Extracts data from uploaded quote documents. Processed under Anthropic's API terms.
Postcode.io
Validates postcodes and determines your region for pricing adjustments.
Stripe (payments)
Takes the payment when you unlock a report and tells us it succeeded. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Processed under Stripe's privacy policy.
Resend (email)
Delivers your report, receipts and anything else you ask us to send, so it receives your email address. Processed under Resend's privacy policy.
Cloudflare R2 (document storage)
Holds the quote documents you upload, including anything written on them such as a site address. Processed under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Render (hosting)
Runs the site and the database that holds your projects, in Frankfurt. Processed under Render's privacy policy.
PostHog (analytics)
Product analytics, hosted in the EU. Runs in cookieless, anonymous mode by default for all visitors: no cookies are set and your IP address is not retained. One anonymous identifier is kept on your device so you can return to a check you started, and it is not linked to your name. If you accept analytics cookies it switches to cookie-based analytics, and for signed-in users links usage to your account email. Processed under PostHog's privacy policy.
Google (Analytics & Ads)
Runs in Google's consent mode. In the UK and Europe, until you accept analytics cookies it sends cookieless pings with no identifier, and only after you accept does it set cookies. Outside the UK and Europe its cookies are set unless you decline on the banner. Google Analytics measures site traffic and Google Ads conversion tracking measures which ad campaigns lead to sign-ups. Processed under Google's privacy policy.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We answer within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather hear from you first, so we can put it right.
